MEET THE BAND!
A lot of us have played music together before...but we decided we needed more horns!
This lead to the forming of DIDDY vs THE KINGDOM, a 9 piece ska influenced band from Leeds in the UK. The band is made up of friends from primary school, high school and beyond.
We share a love of energetic music and geek culture, having played video and board games together since a young age.
Most of us have gigged together in the past, but this is the first time some of us have come together for well over a decade.
And boy is it fun!
Choose your character!
Guitar / VocalsThe first DvK member who also plays in Millennials, guitar and vocals, Dave. When he isn’t writing songs Dave enjoys playing tag rugby with @tag_break and board games. Check out his board game collection on his page.
VocalsFirst part of our vocal pair, and possibly the best guitarist in the band, Will. Another keen gamer, Will also enjoys composing and producing music from a multitude of genres and can often be found DJing around Leeds with Drum & Bass trio Minus Four.
GuitarThe second of four members of the band who also play together in 90s/00s pop punk and indie covers band, Millennials. When he’s not killing it on his Les Paul, Ryan is a keen gamer (like all of us!), and footballer
Bass / VocalsOn bass/vocals, and the third member of the band who also plays in Millennials, Matt. Matt is also a long suffering Leeds United fan, a keen gamer and collector of all things Nintendo.
vocalsSecond part of our fabulous front pair. Bringing all the punk emo glam you could hope for, on vocals, Belle.Belle’s interests include pizza, getting tattoos of pizza, and animals, and probably feeding them pizza.
tromboneBringing so much more than just music, it’s Gary, dancer and tromber ... trombist (?) ... tromboninator! Like all of us, Gary likes computer games and is always up for going to see any live music, where you will usually find him somewhere near the front.
trumpetMoving onto the horns section, say hello to our trumpet player, Megan. You may also catch some fantastic videos of Megan entertaining children during lockdown, as part of her job, hence the faint whiskers.
saxophoneNext up, Laurie on saxophone. Laurie is a very active musician, playing around the country in a number of ensembles, including bands and alongside DJs, as well as passing his knowledge and talent on to new musicians around Leeds.
drumsNext up on the roster is the beast himself! It’s Matt on drums. Brother of guitarist, Ryan, and last member of Millennials. Matt is a very talented musician, and can also be found playing percussion in his brass band and bossing local pub quizzes.
